La Bella Vita

Meet Bella!

When we lost Gabbi, one of the worst feelings was knowing I could only do so much for her puppies. We had no nursing dogs that would be able to step in and care for Gabbi's puppies the way they deserved. I put the word out that I was looking for a foster mom, and we got very lucky to find Bella. Thanks to someone who always comes through when we need something, we found her within 24 hours. We packed up all eight puppies and eight bottles, and we got on the road to pick up Bella and her two 6-week-old boys. We didn't have much information about her, but we trusted where she was coming from. She was everything we could have hoped for. Bella is a very sweet, loving girl. She is a fantastic mother to her own puppies, as well as Gabbi's. She is patient and gentle. She is very attentive to her adopted litter. She was mothering them from the moment she met them in the car that night. She has attempted to nurse the puppies many times, but she's not producing quite enough milk. That's okay with us. We are very grateful for all the other help she gives us. She cleans the babies, helps out with "potty time", and protects them from any threats and the occasional older puppy that tries to get a little too close. The puppies will get to have a bonus mom of their own species to teach them the things we can't. This is SO important. We are very happy to welcome Bella to our pack, and I believe Gabbi would be proud of the phenomenal job she's doing!
